A native of Green Pond, South Carolina, Abbiegail Hugine spent two years at Colleton High School and was one of a dozen students who bravely integrated Walterboro High school in 1965. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from South Carolina State University, certification in special education from Michigan State University, and the Educational Specialist Degree from Citadel. She has served as Director of the Technology Center and Assistant Principal at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. She has long distinguished herself for civic, education, and church involvement, earning recognition for her contributions. A passionate historian, Abbiegail believes in not only preserving history but passing it on to the next generation. Abbiegail is married to Andrew Hugine, Jr., President of Alabama A&M University. They have two adult children and three grandchildren.
