Phil Lippert was sentenced to life in prison, convicted as an accessory to murder at the age of seventeen in a case of betrayal, sexual intrigue, secret double-crossing, and lies by authorities. After serving nearly three decades in Michigan’s notoriously brutal walled prison at Jackson, he escaped and lived quietly in Texas and Mexico for more than five years before recapture. In prison he earned his associate’s degree from Jackson Community and nearly completed a bachelor’s degree in psych and social science from Spring Arbor. He spent much of his prison time penning stories (literally) and working with Sister Patricia Schnapp’s writing and social-issues classes out of Siena Heights University. Phil served 42 years in all before completing parole. He lives in Michigan with his wife, Cynthia.
