About B. A. Johnson

Retired educator B.A. Johnson is a lifetime member of St. John African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Huntsville, Alabama. After 35 years spanning elementary classrooms to administration, she continues her passion in the church, working with the New Members Class for Youth, which requires her to adapt adult materials for children. Recognizing the importance of young members understanding their church history, she developed the characters for an illustrated children’s story, and Sassy Discovers the AME Church was born. While this is Ms. Johnson’s first book project as an author, she continues to hone her writing skills as editor and contributor to the 26-year-old St. John AMEN, a newsletter highlighting many of the events, people, and activities of the local church. Several of her articles have appeared in The Christian Recorder, the official organ of the AME Church since 1851. Find B.A. Johnson at FreshInkGroup.com.
